I’m Dr. Ashley V. Austin, a physician specializing in primary care sports medicine with a passion for helping athletes and active individuals optimize their performance and recovery. My journey began as a Division I basketball player at the University of Evansville, where I balanced academics and athletics, graduating cum laude. After taking time to explore the world, I earned my medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at the University of Georgia. My training initially led me through general and trauma surgery at Montefiore and Jacobi Medical Centers in New York before transitioning to primary care sports medicine. I completed my family medicine residency at the University of Virginia, serving as chief resident, and pursued further specialization through a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. Currently, I contribute to medical education and research as an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, where I co-direct Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Physiology and serve as Faculty Liaison for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Family Medicine. My clinical experience spans all levels of sports, from high school athletes to professional teams, including the WNBA and MLB. Beyond medicine, I have a deep love for high-altitude mountaineering, hiking, basketball, soccer, snowboarding, and surfing. Whether treating athletes or exploring the outdoors, I remain committed to promoting movement, performance, and overall well-being.
