I’m Dr. Robert Marx, an orthopedic surgeon at HSS and a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. As the Vice Chair of Orthopedic Surgery for faculty development at HSS, I specialize in knee and shoulder surgeries, with a focus on ACL reconstruction, complex knee ligament reconstructions, and knee replacements. I have the privilege of serving as the lead orthopedic surgeon for the UFC and The Juilliard School, as well as a Team Physician for the New York Rangers.
My medical journey began with a BSc from Université de Montréal, followed by medical school at McGill University. I then completed my orthopedic surgery residency and earned an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto before pursuing a two-year sports medicine fellowship at HSS, focusing on knee and shoulder conditions.
With over 300 peer-reviewed publications and six books, including three dedicated to ACL injury and surgery, I am actively engaged in advancing orthopedic knowledge. I serve as a Senior Associate Editor for the HSS Journal and frequently lecture at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University and the Mayo Clinic. As an active member of ISAKOS, I am honored to serve as its President from 2027 to 2029.
Patients from across North America and beyond seek my expertise at HSS, and I frequently host international surgeons eager to learn from my surgical techniques. Fluent in French, I enjoy connecting with international patients and colleagues, ensuring they receive the highest level of care and expertise.
